Duquesne University's Samantha Howard (Moon, Twp, Pa./Moon) has been named the Atlantic 10 Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office.

The freshman placed first for the Dukes and 11th overall this past Friday at the Notre Dame Invitational. Howard finished the 5K race is 18:37 in the field of 154 competitors and was the third freshman to cross the finish line.

Howard has finished first for Duquesne in two of their four meets to date.

Duquesne's next meet in the National Open at Penn State Oct. 16.
