Morgantown, West Virginia - Duquesne's rifle team (11-2) was edged by West Virginia (10-1), 6218-6053, Saturday afternoon at the WVU Rifle Range.

The Dukes, who were topped 4678-4559 in smallbore and 1540-1494 in air rifle, set a new Duquesne smallbore record in this meet. The shooters broke a mark of 4551 which was set just two weeks ago against Navy at the Palmyra Invitational in Hershey, PA.

The scores from this match will be used by the NCAA as the organization determines qualifiers for the NCAA Championships to be held on March 13-15. Qualifiers will be announced later this week.

Duquesne is off until the weekend of March 1-2, 2003, when they will compete in the Middle Atlantic Rifle Conference Championships in Annapolis, MD.
