Duquesne lacrosse improved to 6-8 overall, 4-2 in the Atlantic 10 with a 16-3 victory over visiting George Washington Sunday afternoon. The win clinched a berth in the Atlantic 10 Championships for the Dukes.

Seniors Lauren Dutch and Kristin Harner (left) led the game with three goals each while Katie Harner added two goals and one assist. Junior Lauren Mincher led the game with four assists and added a goal for a game-best five points. George Washington was led by Jamie Lee with two goals.

The Harner sisters wasted no time in getting the Dukes on the board as Kristin scored from Katie :15 into the game's action. Carrie Watkins followed at 1:06 with a goal from Mincher before Dutch scored from Ginger Flocco at 2:31 for a 3-0 Duquesne lead. Mincher notched a goal in the 3rd minute for a 4-0 edge. Seven unanswered points would follow as the Red & Blue extended their lead to 12-0 at the 22:56 mark. GW's Lee scored unassisted in the 23rd minute before DU's Katie Hohn found the back of the cage from Watkins' assist at 29:08 for a 13-1 Duquesne advantage.

George Washington scored first in the second frame with an unassisted goal by Lee at the 34:30 mark before Kerry Goessling scored for the Dukes netting a free position goal at 39:40. Duquesne contained possession for most of the second half, as just three other goals would be scored. Jenny Heisler gave the Colonials their third and final goal of the game in the 53rd minute followed by Duquesne with scores from Flocco in the 54th minute and Lyndsy Wittmer in the 29th minute for the final.

Shelley Rank recorded seven saves for the Dukes.

Duquesne closes out the regular season on Sunday, April 28, as they travel to Temple for a 12:00 pm Atlantic 10 match-up.
