Dukes Lose To Nationally Ranked Owls, 20-9

PHILADELPHIA - Duquesne lacrosse lost an A10 Conference match to host Temple, 20-9, Sunday afternoon at Geasey field in Philadelphia. The Owls, who are ranked 19th in the latest ILWCA poll, raised their record to a perfect 6-0 in conference play (11-4 overall). The Dukes, who earlier clinched a berth in the A10 championships, now sit at 4-3 in A10 play, 6-9 overall.

The Dukes were led by Ginger Flocco with four points (3 goals, 1 assist). Kristen Harner (left) (2 goals), Katie Harner (1 goal, 1 assist), Lyndsey Wittmer (1 goal), Lauren Mincher (1 goal) and Laura App (1 assist). Shelly Rank recorded 14 saves for the Red and Blue.

Duquesne took a 6-4 lead into halftime but were unable to hold off the resurgent Owls who edged DU by 16-3 goals in the second half.

Duquesne hosts the Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament which begins on Friday at Rooney Field.
