Duquesne University's head women's cross country/track & field coach Bryan Delsite has announced the signing of Tara Gerlach (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy), Elizabeth Graham (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin), Elena Resovich (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) and Brianne Scott (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) to National Letters of Intent for the 2002 season.
Gerlach adds experience and depth to the Dukes' cross country squad and will help secure the 400 and 800 meter track & field events. She reigned as the 2000-01 District 10 400 meter champion and won the 400 meter event at both the 1999-2000 and 2000-01 Metro championships. A state qualifier, Gerlach is a member of her school record holding 1600 meter relay squad and also captured the 2000-01 800 meter individual Metro championship title. A member of the National Honor Society, Gerlach intends to major in physical therapy at Duquesne.
Graham is a two-time individual state qualifier and one time team qualifier in cross country where she is a three-year letterwinner. A four-year letterwinner in track & field, Graham is a three-time state qualifier as a member of the 4 x 800 meter relay team and adds experience and depth to the relay events for the Dukes. She also lettered one year in basketball and is a member of the National Honor Society. Graham plans to major in finance at Duquesne.
Resovich brings an abundance of distance experience to the Dukes cross country and track & field programs with her prep accomplishments. She helped lead her 1600 meter relay to the 2000 and 2001 WPIAL titles and the 3200 meter relay to the 2001 WPIAL championship title. She also helped set school records in both events. Resovich was a 2001 PIAA state medalist in the 400 meter and as a member of the 3200 meter relay. She was a member of the 1600 meter relay team which won the 2000 WPIAL championship and she placed second at the 2000 WPIAL championship in the 400 meter run as well. Resovich's intended major is health management systems.
Scott was named a first team all-county selection in cross country and was her squad's MVP. A scholar-athlete, she will add experience to the Dukes' track & field program as well. Scott competed in the 2000 indoor nationals as a member of the 4 x 800 meter relay and the 2001 outdoor nationals in the steeplechase. She also was a member of the Distance Medley Relay and 1600 meter relay squad, which competed in the 2001 indoor state championships. An all-league honoree in cross county, she also holds her school record in the 1500 meter run. A member of the National Honor Society, she intends to major in physical therapy.
