Dukes' basketball news:

• Duquesne University basketball will launce the 2002-03 season with a Tip-Off Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 6:30 p.m. in the Duquesne Ballroom. For tickets, please call 412.396.6565 by Monday, Nov. 18. (More information shortly)
• On Friday, Nov. 22, the women's basketball team will play host to Ohio State at 7:05 p.m. in the A. J. Palumbo Center. Tickets may be purchased by calling the ticket office at 412.232.DUKE. The men's team opens its season Saturday, Nov. 23 at Pitt. The game, which opens the Panthers' Petersen Events Center, will be televised locally by FOX Sports Net Pittsburgh.
• DU alum Mike James successfully traversed the NBA preseason and is on the Miami Heat roster for the 2002-03 season. James was in a battle for a roster slot with a number of guards. Pat Riley's squad kept Mike rather than some other less-expensive options even though it meant James' contract is now guaranteed for the entire season. Congratulations to Mike.

  In the Heat home opener last night, a 100-86 loss to the Orlando Magic, James tallied four points and had two rebounds in 14 minutes while dishing out four assists without giving up a turnover.

• The men's team starts the preseason campaign this Sunday, Nov. 3rd, when they match up against Latvia Select for a 4:30 p.m. game at the Palumbo Center. Specially priced tickets are available at the Dukes' ticket office.
