The women's swimming team opened the 2002-03 season with a 103-71 win at St. Francis (PA).

The Dukes captured seven first place finishes, led by junior Kathy Smucler's (Windsor, Ontario / St. Anne's) wins in the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle. Also winning for DU were freshmen Elizabeth Barba (Meadville, PA/Meadville) -- 200 IM, Amy Gersbach (Tabernacle, NJ / Shawnee) -- 200 free, Casey Malone (Cranberry Twp., PA / Seneca Valley) -- 500 free and Erin McEvoy (Campbell Hall, NY / Washingtonville) -- 1,000 free. The Dukes also won the 200 medley relay.

Duquesne returns to action next Saturday, Oct. 26 as it hosts St. Bonaventure at 12:00 pm at Towers Pool.
