On August 25th, Duquesne University women's basketball head coach Dan Burt announced the hiring of Stasia King as graduate assistant. King, a Duquesne alumna and a member of four-consecutive WNIT teams on the Bluff, will pursue a professional master's of business administration.
"Attending Duquesne University and participating on the women's basketball team laid the foundation for my success as a professional as well as a high school basketball coach," said King of her new time at Duquesne. "I am excited to return home to continue my education and expand my coaching career."
During her collegiate career, King appeared in 92 games. She scored a total of 184 points and grabbed 239 rebounds. She made 43.4 percent of her field goal attempts on four 20-win teams.
"We are very excited that Stasia has made the decision to return to Duquesne," said Burt. "She brings a strong background in coaching and counseling. Her time at Duquesne was filled with success, that included 87 wins in her four years. Stasia was always a high IQ player and a scrapper. I love the scrap and smarts she brings to this team!
"Stasia is a fantastic role model for our young women and we are incredibly proud of what she has achieved in her professional life and her return to her alma mater."
In high school, King was named to the 2010-11 Pennsylvania All-State AAAA First-Team, averaging 14.2 points per game and led Harrisburg to a second-place finish in the Commonwealth Division and a berth in the 2011 PIAA Championship. She was named to the Patriot-News District 3-AAAA All Tournament Team as a junior.
After graduating with a degree in communications from DU in 2015, King served as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Harrisburg High School.
