Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University football team will open its 2027 season at FBS member James Madison on Aug. 28, 2027.
The matchup has been moved up from its previously announced date of Sept. 11 to opening weekend.
With the schedule adjustment, the Dukes will open the 2027 campaign against back-to-back FBS opponents, visiting James Madison on Aug. 28 before traveling to
Michigan State on Sept. 4. It marks the seventh consecutive season Duquesne has faced multiple FBS opponents and the third time in program history the Dukes will open a season against consecutive FBS foes (2021, 2024, 2027).
Duquesne has won seven NEC championships since 2011 and has made three FCS playoff appearances since 2015. The Dukes have posted 27 winning seasons in 33 years at the FCS level, including 10 in the last 11 seasons.
The Dukes kick off their 2026 season next week (September 5) at Air Force.
