Washington, D.C. – Duquesne's
Makayla Keck was named Atlantic 10 Women's Track & Field Rookie of the Week following a gold medal performance in the javelin at the ECAC Championships.
Keck claimed the top spot on the podium with an early career-best throw of 51.22 meters (168-0), improving her No. 2 standing on the Duquesne all-time list. The performance was one of eight gold medals for the Dukes, who finished third overall at the ECAC Championships.
The mark ranks No. 32 nationally, 14th in the NCAA East Region and second in the Atlantic 10.
The honor is Duquesne's fourth Rookie of the Week selection this season, the second-most in program history (5 in 2005).
