Philadelphia, Pa. – The Duquesne University lacrosse team dropped its Atlantic 10 Conference opener Sunday afternoon, falling 25–9 at Saint Joseph's.
Duquesne struck first as
Mia Piocquidio converted a free-position attempt on the opening possession after
Julia Nitti won the draw, but the Hawks responded with nine consecutive goals to take control. The Dukes finished with nine goals spread across all four quarters, scoring two in the first, three in the second and two in each half after the break.
Emma Raines led Duquesne with three goals on three shots, recording her fifth hat trick of the season.
Chelsea Evans added two goals, while
Addison Scanlon, Piocquidio,
Megan Marco and
Ali Evans each found the back of the net.
The nation's assist leader,
Gracin Emerson, tallied six assists to four different scorers. Emerson has recorded four or more assists in every game this season and now has 35 through six contests, already ranking fifth on Duquesne's single-season assist leaderboard.
Scanlon also contributed a career-high five draw controls.
UP NEXT
Duquesne returns to Rooney Field for the first time in a month on Saturday, hosting Davidson in Atlantic 10 action. First draw is scheduled for noon.
