Bordas Secures A-10 Rookie of the Week Award

West Virginia native earns weekly award for fourth time this season

Washington, D.C. – Freshman guard Alexis Bordas of the Duquesne women's basketball team has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season, the league office announced Monday.

Bordas played a pivotal role in leading the Dukes to a pair of Atlantic 10 victories, helping Duquesne snap its 11-game skid. She averaged 16.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assist per game while shooting 40.0 percent (12-of-30) from the field and 37.5 percent (6-of-16) from three-point range across the two wins.

She opened the week with a team-high 19 points in a 67-55 victory over Loyola Chicago, connecting on an efficient 7-of-13 (53.8 percent) from the floor and 3-of-7 (42.9 percent) from beyond the arc while adding three rebounds. Bordas followed that performance with 13 points in an 80-67 road win at Fordham, knocking down three three-pointers while contributing three rebounds and two assists.

The West Virginia native has made an immediate impact in her first season on the Bluff, leading the Dukes and ranking fifth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring at 15.6 points per game. She has reached double figures in 21 games this season and has led the Dukes in scoring on 12 occasions. Bordas also ranks among the nation's elite three-point shooters, sitting eighth in NCAA Division I with 3.1 made three-pointers per game, while her 77 total triples rank 13th nationally.

In addition to her scoring, the freshman guard is averaging 3.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game, along with a team-best 1.7 steals. She is shooting better than 35.0 percent from both the field and three-point range and has converted 87.3 percent of her free-throw attempts. Bordas has recorded a team-high seven 20-point performances and has knocked down at least three treys in 14 games this season.

Bordas earns the weekly honor for the fourth time this season, becoming the first Duke since Kadri-Ann Lass in 2015–16 to capture the award four times in a single campaign.
