Morgantown, W.Va. – The Duquesne University women's tennis team traveled to West Virginia on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 7-0 decision. With the loss, the Dukes dropped to 3-5 overall this season.
Duquesne showed promise in doubles play, highlighted by a strong 6-3 victory at No. 2 from the tandem of seniors
Taisia Yakunina and
Alexandra O'Brien. After the Mountaineers claimed the No. 1 doubles match, the doubles point came down to the No. 3 position, where senior
Jasa Roka and
Denisse Arinez Guilarte battled but fell in a tight 7-5 decision.
In singles action, the Dukes competed across the lineup, with the closest match coming at No. 3. Arinez Guilarte rebounded from a first-set setback to take the second set, 6-3, forcing a decisive tiebreak. She pushed West Virginia's Zuzana Kudlackova to the limit before dropping a narrow 12-10 decision.

Mila Badics (No. 1), O'Brien (No. 2), junior
Sofia Serrano (No. 4) and Yakunina (No. 5) each faced tough competition in straight-set matches. At No. 6 singles, Duquesne was forced to default, rounding out the final margin.
