Pittsburgh, Pa. – Sophomore
Jessica DeSaro of the Duquesne University rowing team was named to the 2025 Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team for rowing Wednesday.
To be eligible, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore and own a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale. Voting is done by the Atlantic 10 communication directors.
DeSaro, a native of Kennett Square, Pa., is an accounting major who has compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.99 through her first two years of academic studies. A coxswain, DeSaro helped the Duquesne Second Varsity 8 win the Petite Final at the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championship with a time of 7:35.784 after opening with a time of 7:28.711 in heat competition.
The selection to the 2025 Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team marks the third academic honor for DeSaro over the last month. She was also one of two Dukes honored by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) by garnering a
2025 CRCA Scholar-Athlete Award while also being named to the
College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® At-Large Team.
DeSaro was also a key contributor in helping the Duquesne rowing program earn its third consecutive
Bluff Cup at the 2025 Dukes Awards Show. Given to the athletic program that demonstrates outstanding service, support and participation in the community, the Dukes logged almost 375 hours of community service, including participation in childhood cancer research, Friends of MSF with Doctors Without Borders, the Spiritan Campus Ministry and National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD).
