FAIRFAX, Va. — Duquesne freshman
Rose Kuchera set a new program record in the triple jump as Duquesne's men's and women's track and field teams competed at George Mason's Dalton Ebanks Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Kuchera, who hails from Canonsburg, Pa., set a record of 12.51 meters (41-0.5) in her first-place finish, which qualifies for the USA Track & Field U20s. The mark topped Brittney Edwards' record of 12.50 meters that stood since 2013. During the indoor season, Kuchera was named A-10 Rookie of the Week twice, becoming the first Duke to do so since the 2000-01 season and the third Duke ever to accomplish the feat.
Kuchera is second in the A-10 in the triple jump and leads all rookies.
Lauren Stroka, who finished fifth in the triple jump with her personal-record mark of 11.46 meters (37-7.25), is fifth in the A-10 in the triple jump and is the first rookie behind Kuchera. Kuchera and Stroka had the two best distances in the triple jump among A-10 women this weekend.
