Preview: Dukes Set for Dalton Ebanks Invitational

DU to send seven men to compete at Slippery Rock in split-squad weekend

PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne University men's and women's track & field teams will be split-squad with many competitors traveling to Fairfax, Va., to compete in George Mason's Dalton Ebanks Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Duquesne will also send seven men to compete at Slippery Rock's Dave Labor Invitational this weekend.

Men
  • Freshman Louie Liberatore is second in the Duquesne record book after a 60.02-meter (196-11) javelin throw at the CMU Invitational … this is the second time Liberatore has recorded the second-best throw in program history.
  • Freshman Joe Klanchar owns the third-best javelin distance in Duquesne history after his toss of 55.30 meters (181-5) at CMU.
  • David Williams ran the fifth-fastest 200 meters in program history, recording a time of 21.76 seconds at Carnegie Mellon.
  • Rocco Caprara's 45.91-meter (150-7) toss in the hammer throw at CMU earned him the fifth spot in the Duquesne record book.
  • Graduate transfer Ian Baughman opened his career as a Duke with the second-fastest 400m hurdle time in program history (52.93).
Women
  • Mia Pierce recorded a distance of 47.74 meters (155-9) in the discus at the CMU Invitational, which is good for third place in DU history.
  • Nadia Constantakis reset her program record in the pole vault at the CMU Invitational ... Constantakis cleared a 3.76-meter (12-4) mark the week after breaking the program record for the first time.
  • Mara Whalen moved into third in the 1500m with a 4:30.53 on opening weekend.
  • Rose Kuchera made her outdoor debut with the fifth-best long jump in program history (5.83m / 19-1.5) at Charlotte.

SEASON HONORS
  • Louie Liberatore was named Co-Rookie of the Week after he recorded the second-best javelin throw in Duquesne history and in the A-10 at the CMU Invitational. Liberatore's distance also put him at the ninth spot in the javelin throw among all competitors in the NCAA Division I Mid-Atlantic Region

  • Duquesne will return to the Keystone State to compete in Bucknell's Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pa., from Saturday Apr. 12 to Monday Apr. 14.
