LORETTO, Pa. – The Duquesne men's and women's track and field teams combined for nine first-place finishes and 19 top-three performances at the Saint Francis University Red Flash Open on Saturday.
FULL RESULTS
Sophomore
Anna Rorrer took the top spot in both the 100 and 400-meter hurdles, finishing with times of 14.51 seconds and 1:01.80 respectively. Rorrer holds Duquesne's second-fastest time in the 100-meter hurdles which she set last week at Virginia. Rorrer was 0.52 seconds shy of fifth place in Duquesne's record books in the 400-meter hurdles.
Duquesne swept the men's and women's 800 meters with
Gio Mastromonaco and
Mara Whalen each finishing first. Mastromonaco set a personal record with his time of 1:53.83, and Whalen, who ranks fifth all-time at DU in the 800 meters, notched a time of 2:15.21.
Freshman
Nadia Constantakis finished first in the pole vault with her mark of 3.50 meters (11', 5.75"). Constantakis set Duquesne's outdoor (4.76 meters / 12-4) and indoor (3.62 meters / 11-10.5) pole vault records over the course of her rookie season.
Louie Liberatore took first place in the javelin with his distance of 53.68 meters (176-1). Liberatore picked up his second win in the javelin in what has been an excellent rookie season. Liberatore's first win came at George Mason and earned him his second A-10 Rookie of the Week award.
Caroline Garbe, who tied Duquesne's second-best mark in the high jump last week, took first place on Saturday, clearing a mark of 1.64 meters (5-4.5).
Freshman
Isaac Wetzel claimed the top spot in the 400-meter hurdles. Wetzel, who ranks fifth in Duquesne history, finished with a time of 54.70 seconds on Saturday.
Cameron Bogdan won the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:32.13. Bogdan set a personal record for the 3.000 meters in the outdoor season on Saturday.
TOP-THREE FINISHES
- David Williams finished second in the 400 meters with his 48.77-second time.
- Sam Freedman set a personal record in the 1,500 meters with his second-place time of 4:03.98 … Casey Padgett also achieved a new career-best in the 1,500 meters, finishing third with a time of 4:07.24.
- Madelyn Moretti notched a distance of 13.75 meters (45-1.5) in the shot put, good for a second-place finish.
- Ryan Ellison finished second in the 110-meter hurdles with his time of 15.00 seconds.
- Sam de la Riva took second in the 800 meters, finishing in 1:54.85.
- Junior Eva Leatherman finished the 400-meter hurdles in 1:02.72 en route to a second-place finish.
- Colm McGroarty set a new personal best in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in third place with his time of 55.79 seconds.
- Nathaniel Woshner finished second in the 3,000 meters and recorded a time of 9:00.91.
- Mia Pierce finished second in the discus throw, recording a mark of 40.81 meters (133-11).
