Pittsburgh, Pa. – Senior guard Megan McConnell of the Duquesne women's basketball team accepted a training camp invitation from the Phoenix Mercury on Monday night following the conclusion of the WNBA Draft. She will report to camp on Sunday, April 27, where she'll look to earn a roster spot.

The Pittsburgh native put together one of the most decorated careers in Duquesne women's basketball history. She finished her five-year career second on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,795 points, while becoming Duquesne's all-time leader in both assists (660) and steals (370). McConnell also holds the program records for games played (144), career starts (136), and triple-doubles (4). Despite standing just 5'7", she pulled down 1,079 career rebounds, second-most in school history, with a 7.5 rebounds per game average that ranks 10th. A consistent threat from beyond the arc, McConnell made 209 three-pointers, placing her sixth all-time at Duquesne, and her 4.6 assists per game average is seventh-best in program history

"Honestly, I couldn't believe it when I got that call from my agent," McConnell said. "He said that Phoenix was excited about me and that they wanted to offer me to a training camp, and I accepted it. And I just couldn't be happier. I just can't wait to go there and prove myself that I belong there. To be here at the Cooper Fieldhouse with my coaches and my teammates, I wouldn't want it any other way, and that's why I asked them to be by my side tonight. They've been there for me through the good and the bad, and just to have that support means the world to me."

McConnell is no stranger to accolades, consistently earning recognition for her standout performances on both ends of the court. She was named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Watchlist in back-to-back seasons (2023–24, 2024–25), and this year, she was honored as one of five finalists. Notably, she was the only mid-major player named to the 2025 Naismith Women's Defensive Player of the Year Watchlist and also earned a spot on the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Midseason Watchlist. McConnell capped off her collegiate career by competing in the 2025 Lilly Women's College All-Star Game and being crowned the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year. A two-time A-10 All-Conference First Team selection and two-time A-10 All-Defensive Team honoree, she also excelled in the classroom, earning A-10 All-Academic Team honors for three consecutive seasons and being named to the CSC Academic All-District® Team three times.

The senior guard capped off her Duquesne career with a standout season, posting career-highs across nearly every statistical category. She led the Atlantic 10 in scoring with 18.4 points per game, sixth-best in program history, and totaled 626 points on the year, the fourth-highest single-season mark ever at Duquesne. McConnell also topped the conference in total assists (171) and assists per game (5.0), while leading the entire nation in total steals (138) and ranking second in steals per game (4.06). She shot an efficient 46.9 percent from the field (226-of-482) and knocked down a team-best 74 three-pointers on 224 attempts. Her 74 triples are tied for seventh-most in a single season in program history. McConnell scored in double figures 32 times, led the team in scoring on 23 occasions, and also paced the Dukes in assists 28 times, steals 31 times, and rebounds 24 times. She was one of just three players in NCAA Division I to record multiple triple-doubles this season, finishing with two.
