PREVIEW: Dukes Travel Across Town for Carnegie Mellon Invitational

PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne University men's and women's track & field teams will stay in the Steel City, competing on Friday and Saturday in the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational.

Carnegie Mellon Invitational • Friday Mar. 28, Saturday Mar. 29 • Pittsburgh, Pa. (Gesling Stadium) SEASON STATS  LAST TIME OUT 
  • Duquesne opened the outdoor season at the 49er Classic in Charlotte.
  • David Williams and Mia Pierce each earned first-place finishes, with Williams winning the 400 meters and Pierce winning the discus. 
  • Duquesne tallied an additional 14 top-five finishes, 12 of which came from individual events. 
  • Freshman Nadia Constantakis set a new record in women's pole vault … Constantakis also set the indoor pole vault record in her rookie season. 
  • Senior Ian Baughman finished second in the 400-meter hurdles, recording the second-best time in program history.
  • Freshman Rose Kuchera took second place in the long jump with the fifth-best distance in DU history and third in the triple jump … Kuchera ranks third in the A-10 in both events and leads all rookies. 
  • Mara Whalen finished second place in the 1,500 meters with the third-best time in program history and a personal record.
  • Sophomore Anna Rorrer and senior Amy Allen each tallied a third-place finish … Rorrer took third in the 100-meter hurdles and Allen finished third in the 400 meters.
  • Freshman Louie Liberatore took fourth place in the javelin in his first collegiate meet … Liberatores distance of 56.44 meters is second-best in program history.

Men Women IN THE RECORD BOOK
Women
  • Nadia Constantakis set a new program record in the pole vault in the 49er Classic ... Constantakis cleared a 3.71-meter (12-2) mark in her outdoor debut.
  • Mara Whalen moved into third in the 1500m with a 4:30.53 last weekend.
  • Rose Kuchera made her outdoor debut with the fifth-best long jump in program history (5.83m / 19-1.5) at Charlotte.
Men
  • Freshman Louie Liberatore is second in the Duquesne record book after a 56.44m )185-2) javelin throw in his collegiate debut last weekend.
  • Graduate transfer Ian Baughman opened his career as a Duke with the second-fastest 400m hurdle time in program history (52.93).

  • Duquesne will compete in George Mason's Dalton Ebanks Invitational at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Va., on Friday, April 4, and Saturday, April 5.
