Pittsburgh, Pa. – For the second consecutive year, the Duquesne University Department of Athletics established a school record in NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) Wednesday, as 94 percent of student-athletes who enrolled as freshman in 2018 graduated within a six-year window. It marks the eighth consecutive year the Dukes have posted a GSR of 90 or higher, and the score of 94 breaks the old mark of 92 that was set last year.

The NCAA has tracked GSR for more than two decades, and student-athletes have surpassed the original benchmark of 80 percent, with long-term graduation rate increases being observed year after year from an overall 74 percent in 2002 to 90 percent in 2025.
Since the implementation of the GSR, NCAA Division I members have adopted impactful academic reforms and initiatives, including modifications of initial-eligibility requirements and progress-toward-degree standards, as well as the application of the Academic Performance Program (APP). Those reforms have helped pave the way for exponential graduation success.
A total of 12 programs for Duquesne earned a GSR at or above the NCAA Division I national average of 90 percent. In addition to the perfect scores for 11 programs, women's cross country/track & field posted a 97 percent GSR.
