Buffalo, NY – The Duquesne University women's tennis team dropped a nail-biter on the road at Buffalo, falling 4-3 on Friday afternoon at the UB Tennis Courts. The Dukes have slipped to 0-4 overall this season.

In doubles play, the Bulls captured the early point after taking the first two doubles matches. At the final slot, sophomore Alexandra O'Brien and junior Taisia Yakunina secured the lone doubles win for Duquesne, collecting a 6-3 victory over Deanne Choo and Julia Laspro. At the number one spot, junior Jasa Roka and sophomore Mila Badics dropped a 7-5 decision to Esmee Andresen and Maria Glowacka while senior Kaya Rand and freshman Sofia Lopez-Linares Perez fell 6-2 to Jagmeet Kaur and Marta Giglio.

Duquesne would bounce back in singles competition, splitting the six matches. Badics defeated Andresen 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in the top spot while Roka delt Kaur a 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 loss at the second slot. At third singles, Rand secured a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win over Laspro before O'Brien fell to Maria Glowacka 6-2, 6-1. Buffalo would take the match after capturing the last two singles win. Yakunina fell 7-5, 6-4 to Liv Roeste at the fifth slot while sophomore Sofia Serrano was defeated by Blanca Berges 6-0, 6-1.

The Dukes return to action on Sunday, Feb. 2, when it plays its first home match at the Oxford Athletic Club, hosting Ashland for a non-conference match beginning at 2:00 p.m.
