Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University men's basketball team will face Princeton in Trenton, N.J., as part of the second annual Deborah Heart and Lung Center Jersey Jam, presented by the Gazelle Group, Friday, Nov. 8, at CURE Insurance Arena.
It marks the second consecutive year the Dukes will take on the Tigers, and the game is part of a doubleheader for the Jersey Jam. Temple will square off against Monmouth in the other game. Tickets for the event are available through
Ticketmaster beginning Wednesday, July 31, at Noon.
In the first Deborah Heart and Lung Center Jersey Jam, Princeton earned a 68-61 victory Nov. 6, 2023, over Rutgers at CURE Insurance Arena. It marked the season opener for both teams, with the Tigers going on to finish with an overall record of 24-5 (.868) during the 2023-24 campaign and earn a berth in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT). Duquesne hosted the Tigers last season, with Princeton earning a 70-67 victory at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.
In the all-time series between the two programs, the Tigers own a 3-2 advantage. The contest as part of the Deborah Heart and Lung Center Jersey Jam in November marks the third that will take place on a neutral court between Princeton and Duquesne. The first meeting came as part of the 1952 NCAA East Regional in Chicago, Ill., as the Dukes posted a 60-49 victory March 21, 1952. The two teams didn't meet again for over 20 years, with Princeton earning a 72-62 triumph over Duquesne at Madison Square Garden Dec. 27, 1973, as part of the Holiday Festival.
The game against Princeton as part of the Deborah Heart and Lung Center Jersey Jam is the second schedule announcement for Duquesne for the 2024-25 season. The Dukes will also take part in the
2024 Cayman Islands Classic, Nov. 24-26, while the
Atlantic 10 also announced its conference pairings last month.
Duquesne returns a pair of starters and nine letterwinners from a 2023-24 team that posted an overall record of 25-12 (.676), including a mark of 10-8 (.556) in the Atlantic 10. Thanks to four wins in five days at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., the Dukes claimed their first Atlantic 10 Championship title and subsequent automatic berth in the NCAA Championship since 1977.
Junior forward
David Dixon and sophomore guard
Jake DiMichele return as starters for Duquesne in 2024-25. Dixon appeared in all 37 games, averaging 7.2 points and 4.8 rebounds, while DiMichele contributed averages of 6.4 points and 2.5 boards in 30 contests.
Duquesne is led by head coach
Dru Joyce III, who enters his first season leading the program in 2024-25. He spent the last two years as associate head coach, a span in which the Dukes compiled an overall record of 45-25 (.643).
