BRISTOL, Conn. -- ESPN has
announced the kickoff times for Duquesne's Week 1 and 2 matchups at Toledo and Boston College. The August 29 season opener at Toledo will start at 7:30 p.m. and be streamed on ESPN+. The September 7 matchup at Boston College is slated for 3:30 p.m. at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Mass. and will be broadcast on ACCNX with a simulcast on ESPN+.
This season will be the first meeting for the Dukes against both the Rockets and the Eagles. Duquesne won its sixth Northeast Conference title in 2023 with a 7-5 record, including a 6-1 conference mark, and competed in the NCAA FCS Playoffs for the third time in program history.
Both Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) programs, Toledo is a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and Boston College is a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
The Rockets went 11-3 a year ago with an 8-0 conference record. Toledo appeared in the MAC Championship, falling 23-14 to Miami (Ohio), and competed in the Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl against Wyoming (L, 15-16).
The Eagles posted a 7-6 overall record and went 3-5 in ACC play last year capped off with a 23-14 win over No. 17/24 SMU in the Wasabi Fenway Bowl. BC begins the 2024 campaign on Monday, September 2 at Florida State.
Toledo and Boston College will be the 10th and 11th FBS opponents in program history. The 2024 slate is the fifth season for Duquesne with two FBS foes on the schedule (2018, '21, '22, '23). It is the second time in program history that DU will start a season against consecutive FBS teams, the only other was in 2021 when the Dukes dropped an opener at TCU before downing Ohio, 28-26, the only FBS win ever by an NEC team.
