MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- The Duquesne University lacrosse team dropped its non-conference finale on Tuesday night at Robert Morris, 14-8.
Junior defender
Hanna Pawela eclipsed the program's single-season record for caused turnovers with a game-high three. Pawela surpasses Meghan Hungate's record from 1998 of 57 CTs.
Mackenzie Leszczynski and
Haley Reeck netted goals in the opening 4:05, but a 7-0 Colonial run ensued. The Dukes trailed 7-3 at the half.
Duquesne battled back to as close as two in the third quarter at 9-7 and 10-8. Reeck scored her second goal of the game with 50 seconds remaining in the third to make it 10-8 heading into the final 15 minutes.
RMU shutout the Dukes in the fourth quarter, while scoring four times to secure the victory.
Leszczynski paced Duquesne's offense with three goals, extending her scoring streak to 14 games. The junior midfielder is now one goal shy of 100 for her career after her fifth hat trick of the season.
Reeck and freshman
Charlotte Stamper finished with two goals apiece, while
Kate Webb notched her first career score in the third quarter off an assist by
Emelie Curtis. Stamper's brace was her first career multi-goal game and was done in three shots.
Tristen Chang added the lone other assist for DU on Stamper's second goal.
Rachel O'Toole (four saves) and
Megan LaBorne (one save) split time in net for the Dukes.
UP NEXT
Duquesne will travel to Philadelphia for an Atlantic 10 matchup at Saint Joseph's on Saturday. First draw is slated for 3:30 pm.
