Men's Tennis Downed at YSU

Youngstown, Ohio – The Duquesne University men's tennis team traveled to Youngstown, Ohio on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 5-2 to decision at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center. With the slip, the Dukes fall to 5-6 overall this season.

In doubles competition, graduation student Jin Dassanayake and senior Kaipo Marshall secured a 6-4 victory over Onder Balci and Nishant Dabas in the first spot before sophomores Keita Duclos and Alfrendo Vogelaar downed Harry Fouzas and Nathan Favier, 6-4. Sophomores Pierce Manning and Chris Cianciotti dropped a 6-1 decision to David Moreno and William Rassat in the final spot.

In singles competition, the Penguins captured five of the six matches to take the win. Kaipo secured a 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7) victory in the first spot before Duclos dropped a 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) decision to Favier. Vogelaar fell to Rassat, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 in the third singles before Dassanayake dropped a 6-3, 6-2 match to Balci at the four spot. Cianciotti was dropped by Fouzas, 6-0, 6-1 before Manning dropped a 6-1, 6-1 match to Ibanez in the final to slots.
