Pittsburgh, Pa. - Former Duquesne University women's basketball guard
Lauren Wasylson has signed a professional contract with ZKK Spartak Subotica, who competes in the top-tier Serbian women's basketball league.
Wasylson, a native of Valencia, Pa., appeared in 50 games for Duquesne from 2022 to 2024 after transferring from Xavier University. She made seven starts during her time with the Dukes, averaging 4.2 points and 2.0 rebounds per game while shooting 32.0 percent from the field and 30.0 percent from beyond the arc.
"We are very happy for one of the hardest-working players who have come through our program," head coach
Dan Burt said. "Lauren has overcome significant adversity and injury to help Duquesne be better and now, to lead Spartak Subotica."
Wasylson began her NCAA Division I career at Xavier, where she played from 2018 to 2021. Across five seasons, she appeared in 125 games, including 71 starts, and averaged 5.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, and an impressive 77.0 percent from the free-throw line (97-for-126). A consistent threat from long range, she sank 164 three-pointers and recorded nearly 300 rebounds, 118 assists, 43 steals, and 38 blocks. She concluded her collegiate career with 685 total points.
During her two seasons on the Bluff, Wasylson made 49 long balls, shooting 30.0 percent (49-for-165) from beyond the arc. Despite missing the first half of the 2023-24 season due to injury, she led the Dukes in free-throw percentage (92.3 percent) and ranked fourth on the team in total three-pointers. In the second round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT), Wasylson single-handedly went on a 9-1 run to tie the game and send it into overtime, helping Duquesne secure a 69-65 victory and advance to the tournament's Super 16. She was one of four Dukes to finish in double figures, ending with 11 points, including a flawless 8-for-8 performance from the free-throw line.
In her lone start of the season, against Saint Joseph's, Wasylson scored a season-high 12 points, shooting 4-of-6 (66.7 percent) from behind the arc, and added three rebounds and a steal.
Wasylson becomes the 23rd Duquesne student-athlete to play for Burt and sign a professional contract overseas.
