- The 2024-25 season marks the 109th year of Duquesne basketball. The Dukes started play in 1913-14 (DU did not field a team in 1944-45-46 due to World War II). Duquesne, which has posted back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since 1971 & 1972, is looking to record three consecutive 20-win campaigns for the first time since finishing with four straight 20-win seasons from 1952 to 1955. The Dukes are also 12 wins shy of 1,500 as an NCAA program.

Jahsean Corbett, who owns career totals of 1,380 points and 767 rebounds. Corbett amassed totals of 1,303 points and 725 rebounds in three seasons at Chicago State prior to transferring to Duquesne.

Jahsean Corbett has appeared in 102 career games at the NCAA Division I level, each as a member of the starting lineup. His 100th career start came in a 67-54 win for the Dukes over Old Dominion in the final game of the Cayman Islands Classic.

Maximus Edwards, who enters Wednesday's game with 793 career points. Named the 2023 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, Edwards scored 722 in two seasons at George Washington before transferring to Duquesne.

At The Helm – Dru Joyce III was named the 18th head coach in the 109-year history of Duquesne basketball March 28, 2024. Joyce III, a native of Akron, Ohio, spent two seasons as associate head coach for the Dukes under Keith Dambrot from 2022 to 2024, helping guide Duquesne to an overall record of 45-25 (.643), including a 20-16 (.556) mark in the Atlantic 10, during that span. The Dukes made an appearance in the 2023 College Basketball Invitational (CBI) before earning the automatic bid for the A-10 in the 2024 NCAA Championship by winning four games in five days en route to the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship crown in Brooklyn, N.Y., at the Barclays Center. Duquesne, as a No. 11 seed, made its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 1977 and earned its first victory in the championship since 1969 thanks to a 71-67 win over No. 6 seed BYU in Omaha, Neb., at CHI Health Center Arena.Â

The Dukes have won each of the two previous meetings between the two programs, including a 72-46 victory at the AJ Palumbo Center Dec. 16, 2018 ... Duquesne owned a 31-4 edge in points off turnovers in the win ... Former forward Marcus Weathers (2018-21) led the Dukes with 13 points, while guard Eric Williams, Jr. (2017-29) contributed 11 points ... Former guard Sincere Carry (2018-20) scored nine points and dished out nine assists in the victory as the Dukes posted 17 assists on their 24 field goals ... Duquesne never trailed in the last meeting, jumping out to leads of 7-1, 15-5 and 40-11 en route to the triumph ... Delaware Leftovers – Duquesne evened the all-times series with the Blue Hens, 1-1 (.500), thanks to the win ... The Dukes established season highs in points (80), rebounds (46), free throws (22) and free throw percentage (.786) while matching a season high in field goal attempts (62) ... Niels Lane scored a game-high 20 points off the bench for Delaware, connecting on eight of his 10 shots from the floor, including 2-for-3 from beyond the arc, while going 2-for-3 at the free-throw line ... The Dukes held John Camden, the leading scorer for the Blue Hens entering the game at 17.1 ppg, to nine points on 2-of-10 shooting ... Duquesne owned a 32-28 advantage in points in the paint as well as a 23-14 edge in second chance points ... Bolstered by the performance from Lane, the Blue Hens held a 26-20 cushion in points off the bench.

Glass City – Duquesne set a season high in rebounds in an 80-66 victory over Delaware (Dec. 6) with 46, but it's the work on the offensive glass that has helped the Dukes in recent weeks. Of the 46 boards for Duquesne in the win over the Blue Hens, 20 came on the offensive glass. It helped the Dukes owns a 23-14 edge in second chance points as Duquesne established a season high in the category. Sophomore forward
Jakub Necas finished with five offensive caroms among his game-high seven rebounds, while redshirt junior guard
Cam Crawford added four. The Dukes enter the finale of their three-game homestand Wednesday against Maine ranked sixth in the Atlantic 10 in offensive rebounds with an average of 11.7 per game. Five different Dukes own at least 10 offensive boards this year, including a team-high 18 in five games from junior forward

Tre Day – Senior guard
Tre Dinkins III came up big in Duquesne's 80-66 victory over Delaware (Dec. 6), burying a pair of three-pointers 30 seconds late to help seal the victory. Dinkins III led five players in double figures in the win over the Blue Hens with 18 points and over the last six games has come alive as a member of the starting lineup. During that stretch, Dinkins III is averaging 12.8 points and 2.7 assists while shooting 41.5 percent (22-for-53) from the floor, including 38.9 percent (14-for-36) from deep, and 82.6 percent (19-for-23) at the free-throw line. Overall during the 2024-25 campaign, Dinkins III is converting 36.7 percent (18-for-49) of his attempts from international waters and is averaging 2.0 triples per contest, both of which rank in the top 25 of the Atlantic 10, sitting 23rd and 17th, respectively.Â

Chabi Barre has given the frontcourt a boost. Having missed the first four games of the year due to injury, Barre has converted 69.2 percent (18-for-26) of his attempts from the field in five games since returning in averaging 8.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Having failed to reach double figures in scoring in each of first career 46 games at the NCAA Division I level, Barre has scored at least 10 points in three consecutive games after contributing 10 points, five rebounds and a block in his first start of the 2024-25 season, an 80-66 triumph over Delaware (Dec. 6). Included in that stretch is a
13-point, eight-rebound effort against Saint Peter's (Dec. 3)Â as the Dukes opened a three-game homestand at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse, with the 13 points a career high. Through his first five games of the year, Barre owns 33 rebounds, 18 of which have come on the offensive glass.

Nine Inch Nails – It seems on any given night a different member of the Dukes can step up offensively. The latest case in point came in an 80-66 victory over Delaware (Dec. 6), as off the bench redshirt junior guard
Cam Crawford became the ninth different Duquesne student-athlete in nine games to score in double figures by contributing 10 points. He also grabbed six rebounds and registered an assist and a steal in a season-high 24 minutes of action. Through the first nine games of the 2024-25 season, the Dukes have received 25 double-figure scoring games from nine different players. In addition, nine of those performances have come from the bench. The reserves for Duquesne have outscored the bench of its opponent in five of its nine games this year and is supplying an average of 26.7 points per contest.  Â

Pendulum – The up-and-down nature of college basketball has never been more apparent this season than with Duquesne. Working five new players into the rotation and the Dukes looking to find their groove, the first nine games of the 2024-25 season have featured an amazing 36 ties (4.0 per game) and 57 lead changes (6.3 per contest). In just the last five games alone, contests between Duquesne and its opponent have featured 30 ties and 41 lead changes, including a season-high nine ties against South Dakota State (Nov. 24) and 12 lead changes vs. Hampton (Nov. 25).

Defense Wins Championships – The Dukes have seemingly rounded into form defensively, as over the last five games opponents are averaging 63.4 points per contest. The five foes have combined to convert 38.3 percent (108-for-282) of its shots from the field, including a 32-for-101 (31.7%) performance from beyond the arc. Duquesne has won 29 consecutive games dating back to the 2018-19 campaign when holding opponents to under 60 points thanks to a 67-54 win over Old Dominion to close out the 2024 Cayman Islands Classic. Included in that stretch is a perfect 17-0 mark in three years
Dru Joyce III has been a member of the coaching staff on the Bluff, including two years as associate head coach from 2022 to 2024.
