Duquesne Inks Alexis Bordas on National Signing Day

W.Va. native is a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year

Pittsburgh, Pa. – Duquesne University women's basketball head coach, Dan Burt announced the signing of one new addition to the 2025-26 recruiting class, who is a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year.

Alexis Bordas (Wheeling, W.Va./ Wheeling Park High School) will don the red and blue for the Dukes during the 2025-26 campaign.

One of the most decorated student-athletes in West Virginia, Bordas has led Wheeling Park to a remarkable 70-13 record over three seasons, including a Class AAAA State Championship in 2024. She guided the Patriots to a 25-3 record her sophomore year, earning 4A State Runner-Up honors, and reached the state semifinals with a 21-6 mark as a freshman.

Bordas is no stranger in acquiring accolades as she is a two-time West Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year while also being a two-time Mary Ostrowski West Virginia Player of the Year and Max Preps Player of the Year. She has also earned First Team All-State, First Team All-OVAC, and First Team All-Valley honors three times. Bordas was named the 2024 State Tournament MVP and OVAC Championship MVP, and was selected to the All-Tournament Team for three consecutive seasons.

"Anytime you sign a two-time Gatorade State Player of the Year, you are getting a talented, driven young woman," Burt said. "Alexis is that and much more. We are very excited about Alexis's deep range and quick release, but also her high basketball IQ. She is a complete player who we expect to immediately challenge for playing time when she arrives on campus."

During her junior season, Bordas averaged 24.0 points per game and made 99 three-pointers, setting a new single-season record. Her 99 triples also helped her break the school record for most three-pointers, with a total of 266 through her junior year. A three-year captain, Bordas holds multiple state tournament records, including the most points in a single game (38), the most points in a tournament (88), the most three-pointers in a single game (8), the most triples in a tournament (13), and a perfect free-throw percentage in a tournament (100%, 15-of-15). Additionally, the 5-8 guard became the first sophomore in school history to surpass 1,000 career points and enters her senior year with 1,811 points, the second most in school history.
