Davidson, NC. – The Duquesne University volleyball team concluded its series at Davidson on Saturday night, dropping a 3-1 decision in conference action. With the loss, the Dukes fall to 13-10 overall this season, behind a 4-7 mark in league play.
POINT OF EMPHASIS
After dropping the first two sets, Duquesne rallied with a dominant third set victory, carding a 25-9 win. The Dukes jumped out to a massive 14-3 lead, thanks to kills from five different Dukes. Junior
Ariel Helm and sophomore
Avery Hobson led the charge with a pair of kills each. Davidson responded by scoring four of the next five points to trim the deficit (15-7) before the Dukes ended the set on a 10-2 stint to take the set. A miscue by the Wildcats sparked the run followed by a kill from freshman
Emersen Schrom and a block by Helm and Schrom. An attacking error by Davidson and a kill from Helm pushed the Dukes lead to 20-7. After a Wildcats point, Schrom registered a successful swing followed by consecutive service aces from sophomore
Chloe Wilmot. Davidson carded a kill before Helm sealed the win for the Dukes with a successful swing.
THE TRIO
The Dukes featured three players with double figure kills, led by
Ariel Helm. She finished with a team-leading 12 kills on a .391 hitting percentage to go along with three total blocks.
Emersen Schrom ended with 11 kills and a .360 swing percentage while
Elizabeth Drelling tallied 10 kills and five digs. The trio combined for 33 kills while collecting five total blocks on the night

Avery Hobson finished the night with a team-best 18 digs to go along with eight kills and a pair of aces.
Chloe Wilmot controlled the offense with 25 assists while totaling six digs and four service aces as graduate student
Grace Kristofic registered 18 assists and six digs. Junior
Madison Grimm finished with 12 digs while junior
Carsyn Henschen finished with five kills.
