Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University men's soccer team moved up one spot in the latest
United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll Tuesday, earning a No. 23 national ranking. The Dukes move up a spot after entering the poll for the first time during the 2024 season last week at No. 24.
Duquesne, with an overall record of 10-2-1 (.808), earned 18 points in the ninth poll of the 2024 season from United Soccer Coaches. Ohio State (10-1-2) moved up five spots to become the third No. 1 team in as many weeks, earning all eight first-place votes and 200 total points. The top five is rounded out by Maryland (8-1-5), Clemson (8-2-2), Marshall (8-1-3) and Pittsburgh (11-3-0). West Virginia (9-1-3), which was No. 1 last week, slipped to sixth.
The Dukes are one of six NCAA Division I teams with at least 10 victories entering play this week. In addition to being joined by the Panthers and Buckeyes, No. 13 Missouri State and No. 20 Penn each own overall records of 10-2-1 (.808). George Mason, meanwhile, which suffered a
2-1 loss to the Dukes earlier this season while ranked No. 13 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25, owns an overall record of 11-3-0 (.786) and sits atop the Atlantic 10 standings with Duquesne.
Led by head coach
Chase Brooks, who is in his 12th year as head coach on the Bluff, the Dukes conclude the non-conference portion of their 2024 slate Tuesday with a 6:00 p.m. match against Northern Kentucky at Rooney Field.
