PITTSBURGH - Two first-half goals were enough to get the Duquesne University women's soccer team back into the win column on Sunday afternoon at Rooney Field. The Dukes (2-4) outshot Saint Francis (0-6) 20-4 en route to a 2-0 Senior Day victory snapping a three-game skid.
Lindsay Krafchick got the scoring started with her first career goal, a header into the top-right corner in the 26th minute.
Morgan Kulniszewski set the play up with a left-footed cross into the box for the assist.
Then with 15 seconds left in the first half,
Maya Matesa fielded a long pass from Kulniszewski and cut back into the middle of the box firing a right-footed strike into the back of the net putting the Dukes up 2-0. Kulniszewski's second assist of the game puts her in the team lead this season with three.
The two-goal margin was all Duquesne needed to secure the win, as the Dukes held Saint Francis to just one shot in the final 45 minutes.Â
Duquesne's back line was strong all day not allowing a single corner kick, while the DU offense applied pressure recording seven corners.Â
Savanna Keppy made the lone save chance for the Dukes, as Duquesne racked up a 10-1 shot on goal advantage.
Prior to the start of the game Duquesne honored seniorsÂ
