Duquesne To Host Basketball Tip-Off Event Oct. 5

ESPN analyst Joe Lunardi to serve as keynote speaker

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University Department of Athletics announced Tuesday it will host its Basketball Tip-Off Event Thursday, Oct. 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.

ESPN analyst and bracketologist Joe Lunardi will serve as the keynote speaker, sharing his insights about the 2023-24 college basketball season. Additional speakers include head coaches Keith Dambrot and Dan Burt of the Duquesne men's and women's basketball programs, respectively.

Tickets to the event are free for all Duquesne men's and women's basketball 2023-24 season ticket holders, including those that have purchased men's basketball mini-plans. The price for additional tickets or non-season ticket holders is $10 per person. Included at the Duquesne Basketball Tip-Off Event is appetizers, a cash bar and spirit tastings by Big Spring Spirits, which has locations in Sewickley, Pa., and Seven Fields, Pa.

At the conclusion of the event both basketball programs will participate in an autograph and photo session presented by the Red & Blue Collective. Fans are welcome to bring their own items for the autograph session. Complimentary team photos and autograph papers will also be provided by the Red & Blue Collective.

Led by Dambrot, entering his seventh season leading the men's program, the Dukes finished with an overall record of 20-13 (.606) in 2022-23, including a mark of 10-8 (.556) in the Atlantic 10. Duquesne returns eight student-athletes, including three starters, from a squad that averaged 74.9 points per game last season, which ranked third in the A-10.

Led by Burt, entering his 11th season at the helm of the women's program, the Dukes recorded an overall record of 19-12 (.613) last season, including a mark of 8-8 (.500) in the A-10. Each of the top three scorers for Duquesne return in 2023-24, a trio that started each of the 31 games last season for the Dukes and combined for 1,037 points and 619 rebounds.
