PITTSBURGH—The Duquesne University women's soccer team lost on the road to the No. 21 ranked University of Pittsburgh 6-1 on Thursday night at Ambrose Urbanic Field in an intracity matchup.
The Panthers (5-0) quickly showed why they were tough opponents for the Dukes (1-4), scoring two goals within the first 24 minutes. Duquesne did not back down and got their first goal of the game which came from senior forward
Cami Taylor, her first goal of the season, from a corner that bounced off a deflection from
Brooke Kirstein for her second assist before Taylor tapped it in to make the score 2-1.
Pitt responded by scoring another goal in the 54th minute to further the gap from Duquesne to 3-1 and then a fourth goal just two minutes later.
The Panthers added two more goals in the 65th minute to make the game 5-1 and 86th minute to make the game 6-1 as the game reached its conclusion.
Morgan Kulniszewski led the team in shots tonight with two, one of the shots going on goal.
Duquesne will look to get back in the win column with their next matchup with Saint Francis on Sunday at home on Rooney Field, with kickoff starting at 1:00 p.m. The Dukes will honor their seniors prior to the start of the game.
