PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne University women's rowing program is proud to announce the addition of
Alana Holt to its coaching staff. Holt arrives on the Bluff via Sacramento State University, where she was an assistant women's rowing coach and recruiting coach for the Hornets.
During her tenure at Sacramento State, Holt worked with several boats and spent the majority of her time working with the Hornets' fours and novice eight. This past season, she contributed to a successful season for Sacramento State which saw its varsity eight take bronze, second varsity eight take gold, and novice eight take silver at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships.
Holt also coached for Capital Crew in Sacramento earlier in her career, where she led several successful campaigns for her youth rowers. She oversaw crews that won the prestigious San Diego Crew Classic and had a record of qualifying crews for the US Rowing Youth National Championships, as well as winning the Youth Pair and taking fifth in the U17 Eight.
"I am delighted that Alana accepted our offer to be an assistant coach. Her experience as a Division I coach along with her track record of qualifying boats into the Grand Final at Youth Nationals will help us raise the standard of Duquesne Women's Rowing" said Head Coach
Matt Carlsen.
Holt echos Coach Matt's excitement to join the Dukes, saying "I am honored and thrilled about joining Matt, Stephen, and the team. I am looking forward to learning from them as well as the rest of the staff. I plan on using my experience to help the student-athletes succeed and perform at their highest, on and off the water. I am excited to explore a new city, and as a big sports person, having a city with three major sports teams will be cool. I'm so eager to meet the team and get to work! I am very grateful for this opportunity."
Holt earned her bachelor's degree from Sacramento State in 2022, where she competed on the Division I rowing team. In high school, Holt was a member of Capital Crew rowing. When out of the office, she enjoys skilling, traveling, hiking, scuba diving, and cycling.
