DAYTON, Ohio – The Duquesne University women's tennis team dropped a neutral-site, Atlantic 10 match, 4-0, to St. Louis in its regular-season finale Thursday morning.
The Billikens stormed out in front and never looked back, taking doubles #2 and #3 by scores of 6-3 and 6-2, respectively, then swept singles #1 and #4 before clinching the match with a three-set win in the second flight.
The teams left doubles #1 as well as singles #3, #5, and #6 unfinished after St. Louis secured the match victory.
The Dukes had a lead in all three of the unfinished singles matches, as
Jasa Roka took the opening set at #3, 6-3,
Ellen Shanahan got out to an early 3-2 lead, and
Anastasiia Kotsyuba won the lone game of the sixth flight.
Daniela Latoni claimed the second set 6-3 in her match at singles #2, but came up short in the tiebreak set, 6-1.
Duquesne finishes the regular season with a 9-8 overall record and a 3-2 conference mark. The Dukes will compete in the Atlantic 10 Championships on April 26-30 in Orlando, Fla.
