PITTSBURGH – The Duquesne University men's tennis team made the short trip across town and picked up a 7-2 victory over Carnegie Mellon on its home courts.
The Dukes got off to a strong start sweeping the doubles round to go up 3-0.

Bode Vance earned a pair of hard-fought victories in the #2 and #3 spots. The Dassanayake/Marshall duo battled out an 8-7 win with a 7-5 tiebreak, then Wickwire/Vance secured the third point in an 8-6 decision.
Marshall continued the Red and Blue's roll cruising to a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the top singles spot and has now won seven straight matches, improving to 10-2 in the #1 position this season. Geordadze came back from a set down and an early second frame deficit to win 8-6 in a tiebreak, then carried the momentum into a 6-1 third set to clinch the win at #2. Carnegie Mellon got a pair of points with wins at #3 and #6.
Valentin Vasquez led 6-2, 6-5 before his opponent retired at the #4 position and
Keita Duclos rounded out the scoring for the Dukes with a three-set victory in the fifth flight.
Duquesne will wrap up the regular season with an A-10 match on April 20 against Saint Louis in Dayton, Ohio. The conference championships are scheduled for April 26-30 in Orlando, Fla.
