NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Duquesne (20-11, 10-8), which finished tied for sixth in Atlantic 10 regular season play, will be seeded sixth at the
2023 A-10 Championship, scheduled for March 7-12 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
The Dukes will play the winner of No. 11 La Salle (13-18, 7-11) vs. No. 14 Rhode Island (9-21, 5-13) on Wednesday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the second game of the second session on USA Network.
La Salle and Rhode Island will meet at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7 (ESPN+).
This is the highest seed for Duquesne since 2020, when the 21-9 Dukes earned the No. 6 seed but never got to take the court at that year's pandemic-suspended Championship.
The Dukes defeated both La Salle (91-74 in Philadelphia on Feb. 22) and Rhode Island (81-72 in Pittsburgh on New Year's Eve) earlier this season.
The winner of the La Salle/Rhode Island vs. Duquesne game will face No. 3 Fordham (24-7, 12-6) on Thursday, March 9 at 7:30 (USA Network).
The Dukes, who were picked to finish last in the A-10 preseason poll, posted the school's eighth winning conference record in 46 Atlantic 10 seasons (10-8) in 2022-23.
Head coach
Keith Dambrot has accomplished the feat three times (10-8 in 2019 & 11-7 in 2020 are the others).
