DeLAND, Fla. – The Duquesne University lacrosse team fell in a tightly contested matchup against Stetson on Monday afternoon in Florida, losing 16-14.
Duquesne is now 1-4 on the year while Stetson moves to 2-2.
Sophomore midfielder 
Mackenzie Leszczynski scored a career-high five goals to lead the Dukes. She also added an assist and three draw controls.
Sophomore attacker 
Delaney Rodriguez-Shaw had another good game, scoring four goals. It is her fourth-straight game with three or more goals.
Freshman 
Chelsea Evans also scored twice, marking her third multi-goal game in her young career.
Duquesne got off to an incredible start, scoring five-straight early goals to go up 8-2. Stetson answered quickly though, scoring five of its own goals to get within one. At halftime, Duquesne led by two.
The Dukes led 12-9 just a few minutes into the second half, but Stetson wasn't going anywhere. Over the next 10 minutes, the home side outscored Duquesne 6-1 to take a 15-13 lead.
A late goal by Leszczynski brought the Dukes back within one goal, but Stetson was able to hold on for the 16-14 win.
Duquesne will have a week off before playing again on Tuesday, March 7 at home against Central Michigan.
