EAST HAVEN, CT – Eleventh-ranked Duquesne went 6-1 at NEC Meet #3 held Saturday and Sunday at AMF East Haven in East Haven, Conn. to secure the No. 2 seed for the NEC Championship which will be held on March 24-26 in Hamilton, N.J.
The Dukes posted an event-high 196.4 average with a 7,658 pinfall in the best-of-7 baker format with four matches Saturday and three on Sunday.
DU's lone blemish came in Saturday's opening match, when they dropped an 87-93 tiebreaker (3.5-3.5) to No. 25 Sacred Heart. The Dukes stormed back to defeat Wagner (4-3), No. 23 Merrimack (4-1) and No. 15 Fairleigh Dickinson (4-2) to close out the day.
