DAYTON, Ohio -- The Duquesne volleyball team fell on the road to the No. 18 ranked Dayton Flyers on Tuesday at Frericks Center in the second meeting between the sides this season.
The Dukes (10-10, 5-7 A-10) were led by graduate student
Morgan Gish, who finished with seven kills and eight digs, and
Carsyn Henschen, a sophomore from New Knoxville, Ohio, a mere hour away from Dayton, who charted a team-high eight kills. Freshman
Chloe Wilmot paced the Dukes in assists (18) and digs (12) for her ninth double-double of the season.
Dayton (23-2, 12-0 A-10) took the first set 25-17. The Flyers out-hit the Dukes 14-9 and boasted a 31.4% hit percentage to DU's .094. The set was tied at 9 at one point, but a 6-1 Dayton run gave the Flyers a lead they never surrendered.
Dayton won the second set 25-9, scoring 10 unanswered to finish it off. The Flyers capped off the match with a 25-16 decision in the third set, in which they posted 17 kills and had a .395 hit rate.
Duquesne will make its final road trip of the season this weekend with a doubleheader against Loyola Chicago. The Ramblers were picked to finish first in the A-10 preseason poll. Friday's match begins at 6 PM. First serve on Saturday will be at 2 PM. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
