Quick Start Lifts No. 22 Saint Louis Over Dukes

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University women's soccer team concluded the road portion of its 2023 regular season Thursday, falling to No. 22 Saint Louis, 4-0, at Robert R. Hermann Stadium. The Dukes dipped to 6-7-4 (.471) overall during the 2023 season, including 3-2-4 (.556) in the Atlantic 10.

The Billikens opened with a flurry, getting the first marker of the contest just 55 seconds into the game. Emily Gaebe took a pass from Caroline Kelly and found the back of the net with her left foot to give St. Louis an early 1-0 lead.

Gaebe would find score again in the ninth minute to keep the pressure up, giving St. Louis a 2-0 advantage. Two minutes later, Kelly, who assisted on the opening goal, tucked a shot in the bottom left corner to push the Billikens on top, 3-0.

Maddy Neundorfer finished with a game-high nine saves for Duquesne, while Maya Matesa finished with a pair of shots, including one on goal.

Saint Louis (13-2-2 / 8-0-1 A-10) added a final goal in the final minute, with Ashley Koch scoring for the Billikens.

Duquesne returns home to Rooney Field to wrap up the 2023 regular season Sunday, Oct. 22, by hosting Richmond in a match slated to begin at 1:30 p.m.
