THE DUKESÂ

The Dukes are fresh off a sweep over Saint Louis at home. Duquesne came back from a 2-1 deficit in both matches to win in five sets.

Freshman Avery Hobson was recently named A-10 Rookie of the Week, this being her second time receiving the honor. She posted 32 kills over the two matches with the Billikens and leads Duquesne with 186 kills. Hobson is third in the A-10 in kills per set.Â

Graduate student Morgan Gish is second on the Dukes in both kills and digs, boasting 165 kills and 152 digs. Sophomore Carsyn Henschen is the third Duke with more than 150 kills. Henschen and Gish rank fifth and ninth in the A-10 in kills per set respectively.Â

Freshman Chloe Wilmot continues to rack up the assists, tallying 96 over the doubleheader with Saint Louis. Wilmot leads Duquesne with 615 assists and sits atop the A-10 in assists per set.Â

Sophomore Madison Grimm leads Duquesne with 217 digs on the season. The defensive specialist is eighth in the A-10 in digs per set. She has recorded double-digit digs in all but two matches this season.Â
THE REVOLUTIONARIESÂ

The newly named George Washington Revolutionaries are coming in on a two-game losing skid caused by Loyola Chicago. The Revolutionaries had won their previous three matches.Â

The Revolutionaries have won their last five home matches, the last three of which were in conference play.Â

Senior Liv Womble's 182 kills leads the Revolutionaries on the season. Junior Brittany Myers is the only other player to pass 100 on the season, but graduate student Grace Wiczek and junior MC Daubendiek are each within 10 kills of triple digits.Â

Sophomore Maeve Loughran leads GW with 336 assists on the season. Sophomore Dilara Elmacioglu is second with 265. Â

Sophomore Amina Robinson leads the Revolutionaries in digs and sits just three shy of 200 on the year.Â

George Washington was picked to finish fourth in the A-10 Preseason Poll. Â
THE SERIESÂ

Duquesne is 20-40 all-time against George Washington in a series dating back to 1986. Duquesne's first win against GW came 10 years later. On the road, the Dukes are 7-21 against GW.

Duquesne was swept last year by George Washington with losses in five and three sets. The last three seasons have seen sweeps with GWÂ sweeping in 2019 and 2022 and Duquesne sweeping in 2021.Â
ROOKIE OF THE WEEKÂ

Avery Hobson has been named A-10 Rookie of the Week twice, including this past week after posting double-digit kills in each of the thrilling, five-set victories over conference foe Saint Louis ... Hobson recorded her seventh double-double of the season on Friday with a match-high 17 kills and early career-best 16 digs.

A Duquesne player has taken the honor four out of the seven times this year ... It is the first time since 2012 that a Duke has earned multiple Rookie of the Week honors, when Mary Henry garnered five ... The last time the Dukes had two players earn multiple player of the week awards was 2008, when Tricia Mullen and Liz Homan won two and three times, respectively.

DOUBLE-DOUBLES THIS SEASONÂ

Avery Hobson leads the team with seven double-doubles this season, including one last weekend that featured a career-high 16 digs with 17 kills in the five-set win over Saint Louis ... Hobson has posted double-digit kills nine times and 10+ digs on nine occasions as well.

Morgan Gish has six double-doubles, with four coming in conference play including last match against Saint Louis with 15 kills and 15 digs ... The Kansas City, Mo. native has a team-high 10 matches with double-digit kills and eight matches with 10+ digs.

Chloe Wilmot also has six double-doubles, half of which have been in A-10 action ... She has had 20+ assists in every match so far this season.

Camille Spencer recorded a pair of double-doubles in the doubleheader against Canisius on September 1, including a career-high 21 kills in the night cap.

Carsyn Henschen charted a double-double on opening weekend with 22 kills and 10 digs against Binghamton ... The New Knoxville, Ohio native has had eight matches with double-digit kills.

Duquesne's 5-1 record was the school's best start since 2012. Â

Last year the Dukes didn't win their fifth match until October 22, while this year they reached five wins in their sixth match on September 2.Â

Defending A-10 champion Loyola Chicago was tabbed the favorite with 97 points and seven first place votes. Dayton (2) and Davidson (1) also received first-place votes, taking second and third in the poll.Â

Opperman, whose teams have appeared in nine of the past 13 Atlantic 10 postseason tournaments, guided the Dukes to the school's first A-10 regular season and tournament championship in 2013. The 2013 Dukes went on to make the first NCAA Championship appearance in school history.Â
