Dukes Drop 65-58 Decision to Fordham

Five-game home win streak snapped

PITTSBURGH - Fordham (15-4, 3-3) used a late 15-0 run to pull away to defeat cold-shooting Duquesne (13-7, 3-4), 65-58 on Saturday afternoon at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.

Dae Dae Grant (10 points) was the lone double-digit scorer for the Dukes who shot .306.

The defeat, DU's third in 15 home games, snapped a five-game home win streak.

Duquesne led 48-42, when Fordham started its game-changing run with a Kyle Rose layup.

The Rams, who shot .383 for the afternoon, hit three-straight 3-pointers to take a 53-48 lead with 4:04 left.

The lead was the Rams' first since the final minute of the first half.

Grant ended Fordham's run with a 3-pointer that made it 57-51 with 1:43 remaining.

Duquesne cut it to 60-55 on a pair of R.J. Gunn Jr. free throws and Grant had a chance to cut it to two following a Kareem Rozier steal, but misfired on a 3-point attempt in transition from the right wing.

Fordham's Darius Quisenberry, who finished with 14 points, scored the next five points to give the Rams a 65-55 lead with 12 seconds left.

Duquesne went over seven minutes without a field goal, missed 14 of 15 field goal attempts at one point, but still managed to take a 25-23 halftime lead on a 3-pointer by Grant - the Dukes' first after seven consecutive  misses - at the first half horn.

The Dukes, who shot .265 in the opening 20 minutes, were able to stay in it by holding the Rams to .323 shooting.

Neither team led by more than six in the first half.

Duquesne scored the first six points out of the break, taking a 31-23 lead on a steal and dunk by Jimmy Clark III just under three minutes into the second half.

Fordham then held the Dukes without a field goal for over four minutes to tie it at 34-34.

Duquesne, which went 3-of-16 from the 3-point arc, assisted on five of 19 field goals.

Duquesne completes its two-game homestand against first-year Atlantic 10 member Loyola Chicago on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 7:00 p.m. (ESPN+).
