DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Duquesne University volleyball team fell to Davidson in three sets Friday.
Duquesne falls to 3-11 while Davidson moves to 8-5.
The Dukes were unable to grab a set win in this one. The first set ended up being a tight one, but Duquesne eventually dropped it, 25-23. The Dukes were down 16-8, but they went on a 10-2 run to tie it up at 18-18. Things went back and forth to end the set, but it was Davidson who found a way to win.
After the heartbreaking loss in the first set, Duquesne was just never able to find any momentum as Davidson won the second and third sets as well. Things were tighter in the second with the Dukes being within three at 20-17, but Davidson pulled away late.
Senior
Morgan Kelly reached double-digit kills with 10, leading the team. Freshman
Carsyn Henschen and sophomore
Anna Shoemake had seven kills of their own.
Sophomore
Madison Floyd once again led the Dukes with three blocks. Senior
Anita Parrott had two blocks.
Senior
Hailey Poling led the team with 29 assists and also recorded 9 digs.
Freshman
Madison Grimm led the team in digs with 21, tying a career high. This was the 10
th time in 11 games that she has had double-digit digs.
GAME NOTES
- Grimm has recorded 10 or more kills in 10 of the last 11 games. Her 169 digs lead the Dukes and also rank eighth in the conference.
- Henschen's 156 kills rank third in the conference.
- Poling's 427 assists are the third-most in the A-10.
- Kelly recorded 10 or more kills for the seventh time this season and second-straight game.
- Duquesne's 117.5 total blocks are the fifth-most in the A-10.
