The Dukes dropped the first two sets then dominated the third. Things looked to be going well in the fourth set, but Davidson went on a late run to finish the win.

Senior

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first match of A-10 play did not start the way the Dukes wanted, as they went down 15-7 early into the first set. After a 5-1 run, Duquesne was able to get within four points at 16-12, but four is the closest it would get. The Dukes put together a 4-0 run at the end of the set, but it was not enough.
The second set did not go any better for Duquesne. Davidson jumped out to another 15-7 lead, and it was 20-11 soon thereafter. A 25-14 score in this set put the Dukes' back against the wall leading into the third.
The Dukes looked like a different team in the third set, dominating to win 25-13. This one was all Duquesne from the start. DU began the set with a 7-0 run and Davidson never got closer than four points the rest of the set. Twelve kills and fives aces carried Duquesne through this set, and things were looking up.
Duquesne went on a 6-1 run towards the beginning of the set to go up 9-7 and worked that lead up to 14-11. Eventually, the Dukes led 17-13, but that is when Davidson flipped a switch. The Wildcats scored the next 12 points to win the set and the match. The two teams will see each other again tomorrow at 4:00 P.M. ET.
