PITTSBURGH – The Duquesne women's soccer team opened A-10 play with a 3-2 victory over Rhode Island Thursday night at Rooney Field.
The win improves Duquesne's record to 3-3 while Rhode Island falls to 1-5-3.

th-minute to notch the first goal of her collegiate career.
Freshman defender

Sophomore goalkeeper

The game was physical throughout and ended with six yellow cards given out.
The first half began with a few decent scoring chances from the Dukes, but they couldn't find the net until the 28
th-minute when Moore forced a turnover and went bar-down on a breakaway.
Duquesne controlled play for the rest of the first half, possessing the ball for over 60% of the time.
Once the second half started, it looked like Duquesne was going to cruise to victory. Araujo's first goal came off a free kick from just outside the box in the 47
th-minute.
Just 10 minutes later, Krafchick played a beautiful ball to Araujo in the box for her to finish for her second goal of the night.
Despite the 3-0 lead, the game was not over. Rhode Island's Tierra Garniss took over starting in the 65
th-minute when she scored her first of the game. Her second goal came two minutes later to bring the Rams within one score in the blink of the eye.
Garniss wasn't finished, as she ripped a shot off the crossbar in the 87
