BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Collin Ebling ran a school-record time in the 800-meter run to advance and qualify for Friday's quarterfinal heats at the NCAA East Preliminary Championships hosted by Indiana University Wednesday.

Ebling clocked the fourth-fastest run of the day with a time of one minute, 47.88 seconds during the sixth and final heat of the event. Only Baylor Franklin (Ole Miss), Tim Zepf (Notre Dame) and Samuel Voelz (Notre Dame) posted better times than Ebling on the day. He shaved nearly a full second off of his previous personal-best and school-record time of one minute, 48.60 seconds, which was established at the Virginia Challenge.

Ebling will now compete in the first of three heats in the 800-meter quarterfinals on Friday, May 27 slated for a 7:05 p.m. start time. The top-three from each heat plus the next three best times will advance to the NCAA National Championships in Eugene, Oregon for the semifinals of the event starting on June 8.

The day also marked the end of
Isaac Elliott's decorated career. Elliott finished 38
th overall and fifth out of eight in his heat in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.50 seconds.

He then had to wait until after a weather delay to compete in the 200 meters. Following the delay, Elliott clocked in at 21.67 seconds in his heat to finish 45
th in his final event in a Duquesne uniform.

The run also closed the book on a historic season for Elliott. He re-established school records eight times during the course of the year, including a time of 10.22 seconds in the 100-meter dash that also established a new record at the Atlantic 10 Championships. He also re-broke the school-record in the 200 meters at the A-10 Championships with his time of 20.74 meters. Elliott was also a member of the A-10 Champion 4x100-meter relay team.

His efforts garnered Elliott his second-straight Atlantic 10 Championships Most Outstanding Performer of the Meet award. Elliott's laurels this season also included winning both the 200-meter and 60-meter dash at the IC4A/ECAC Indoor Championships and the 200 meters at the outdoor championships. Elliott was also the runner-up in the 100 meters at the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Championships.
