PITTSBURGH – The Dukes were defeated 18-4 by No. 25 Penn State Wednesday afternoon at Rooney Field.

Duquesne drops to 2-2 on the season, while the Nittany Lions, ranked No. 25 in the most recent IWLCA Division I Top-25 poll, improve to 1-1.

A quartet of Dukes notched goals in the second half, including
Mackenzie Leszczynski,
Jillian Caroselli,
Sam King, and
Tina St. Clair.

Penn State scored each of the game's first 17 goals, including a trio in the opening five minutes of the match to establish the lead early.

King got the Dukes on the board with 1:07 left in the third quarter and started a run of four-straight Duquesne goals to make the score 17-4. With a running clock for the majority of the second half, the Dukes defensively managed to limit Penn State to just one goal in the fourth quarter.

Penn State held sizable advantages in most categories. In addition to holding a 27 to 10 advantage in shots on-goal, the Nittany Lions one 19 of the 25 draw controls in the contest. Penn State was 6-of-9 on free position shots, compared to the 2-of-3 posted by the Dukes.

Duquesne will look to get back on track next Wednesday, March 2 when they travel to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania to take on Bucknell in a non-conference match at 5 p.m.
