LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Duquesne lacrosse team was defeated 16-7 at Bucknell in a non-conference match Wednesday evening.

The Dukes (2-3) were led by a trio of players with two goals, including a three-point game (two goals, one assist) from
Alana Piano (Brockport, N.Y./Aquinas). She also added four ground balls and three caused-turnovers.

Tina St. Clair (West Chester, Pa./Rustin)Â and
Sam King (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport) each finished with two goals, while
Jillian Caroselli added a goal and an assist.

Duquesne took a 2-1 lead over Bucknell (2-1) on goals by St. Clair and Piano seven minutes into the match. The Bison answered with the game's next seven markers to race out to an 8-2 advantage into the second quarter. St. Clair and Piano went back-to-back on goals again towards the end of the first half to make the score 8-4, before another Bucknell goal sent the Dukes into halftime trailing 9-4.

Bucknell scored all seven of the game's third quarter goals to march out to a 15-4 lead. Duquesne started to chip away at the deficit with three-straight goals to start the fourth quarter which made the score 15-7, but the Bison did not allow the Dukes to get any closer.

Bucknell out-shot the Dukes 37 to 18 and won 18 of the 26 draw controls.

Laurel McHale led the Bison with four goals and one assist.

Duquesne will have a week off before returning to Rooney Field on Wednesday, March 9 to take on Ohio State. The game with the Buckeyes is set to start at 5 p.m. and will broadcast on ESPN+.
