KENT, OHIO – The Dukes used a big run in the second quarter to propel them to a 15-4 win over Kent State Sunday afternoon at Dix Stadium.

Duquesne (2-1) was led by a trio of players with three goals, including a four-point outing (three goals, one assist) by
Mackenzie Leszczynski (Flourtown, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh).

Both
Delaney Rodriguez-Shaw (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) and
Sam King (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport) tallied three goals, while
Alana Piano (Brockport, N.Y./Aquinas) posted two goals and one assist. Rodriguez-Shaw also finished with a team-high five draw controls.

Kent State (0-2) kept the game close through the first quarter and early parts of the second. With the game tied at 3-3 and 12:52 to play until halftime, the Dukes rolled off six-straight goals to take a 9-3 lead into the break.

Duquesne continued to build its lead with four more goals in the third and the first goal of the fourth quarter to tally 11-straight goals in total and take a 14-3 lead with 9:06 to play in the game. Kent State eventually ended the run, but the Dukes had a more than comfortable lead to sit on to earn the non-conference win.

Mady Piersielak (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) earned her second win this week in net. She recorded four saves to help Duquesne secure the win.

The Dukes out-shot the Golden Flashes 30 to 17, including a 25-to-8 margin in shots on-goal. Duquesne was a perfect 19 for 19 on clears and forced 28 Kent State turnvoers.
